Year 4
Welcome to Year 4! Along with continuing to develop our skills in English and mathematics, we will be exploring rainforests and rivers in geography. We will travel back in history to learn about Ancient Maya, invaders and the lives of children in the Tudor and Victorian eras.
We work really hard to improve our times tables knowledge ready for our Year 4 multiplication check and use our developing skills in mathematics to play collaborative games and solve puzzles. In science, we test electrical circuits by taking them apart to see how they work. We take part in lots of practical investigations, even learning how poo is made by creating a working model! In DT, we will adapt a recipe as part of our cooking unit and learn to sew on a button in textiles.
We develop our team skills in a range of outdoor and indoor PE lessons and will learn the rules of tag rugby, hockey and rounders. In PSHE, we explore how we are global citizens and the power of kindness. We love to be responsible and mentor younger children, showing how we are good role models. We will learn to play and teach others to participate in board games and traditional playground games. We will all head off on a big sleep over when we take part in a residential outdoor activity trip, taking part in adventurous activities and building dens! We even build a campfire to sing songs around!
